I have always dig Japanese food. They're awesome. First on the list is:
Ebiko is a sushi made of prawn roes. That orange ball eggy stuff.
Gyoza!
They're fried dumplings, or pot stickers, usually filled with pork. But here in Malaysia, usually Halal ones are filled with either fish or chicken fillet. They're really OOiisshhii!
Ebi Tempura
I'm not really a fan of prawns and shrimps and whatsoever related to them, but these kill me everytime! They're really good when you eat it with wasabi and soy sauce.
Takoyaki!
Tako is my fave. Squid, sotong, anything you call it, it's good. =P but if you can't make it well, it'll not.
And lastly,
Wasabi!
Nothing Japanese is complete without the hint of wasabi.
Wasabi (Japanese: わさび,ワサビ , 山葵 (originally written 和佐比); Wasabia japonica , Cochlearia wasabi, or Eutrema japonica) is a member of the Brassicaceae family, which includes cabbages, horseradish and mustard. Known as "Japanese horseradish", its root is used as a spice and has an extremely strong flavor. Its hotness is more akin to that of a hot mustard than the capsaicin in a chili pepper, producing vapors that irritate the nasal passages more than the tongue. The plant grows naturally along stream beds in mountain river valleys in Japan. There are also other species used, such as W. koreana, and W. tetsuigi. The two main cultivars in the marketplace are W. japonica cv. 'Daruma' and cv. 'Mazuma', but there are many others.
Health Claims
It has been claimed that wasabi contains a natural chemical that can be used against certain cancer cells. It is also claimed that wasabi can also be used for oral hygiene and infections. It has been suggested that Wasabi can help prevent cardiovascular diseases like stroke, heart attack, and hypertension. Finally, it is alleged to be useful against diarrhea, osteoporosis, asthma, arthritis, and allergies as well.
